  • BSc in Materials Science and Technology with a specialization (MSc) in Nanomaterials from the University of Sheffield, UK.


  • PhD focused on biological interactions at the interface of biomaterials, from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK.


  • Interest in the intricate interactions between biological materials and biomaterials. Postdoctoral research focused on soft tribology at the nanoscale (FFM).

Prof Mike Adams


  • Professor of Product Engineering and Manufacturing in the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham.


  • He is the recipient of the Donald Julius Groen Prize and the Tribology Trust Silver Medal


  • Over 230 publications with papers and 5 edited books including ‘Tribology in Particulate Technology’.


  • Interests in process engineering, the applications of in-line sensors, particle technology, tribology, sensory perception and modelling.


  • He is a graduate of the Royal Society of Chemistry and holds a PhD in Molecular Acoustics from the University of Essex.
